Building for Generations: 2025 Year in Review

At Mitchener Builders, we take pride in building generational homes. We’re hands-on, pay attention to the little things, and believe in honest, practical work.

This year, we completed everything from historic renovations to new builds across Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties.

Here are a few highlights from 2025:

HISTORIC RENOVATIONS

In September, we began three historic home renovations at Chautauqua Institution. Each project balances preservation with modern updates and is scheduled for completion in 2026.

The Glovebox
In collaboration with architect Diane Hendrix, this project includes renovations and additions to an existing home, including raising the structure, excavating, and installing a full foundation with new living space.

Scott and Wythe Reenvisioned
Working with Harrington Architecture, this project is a complete renovation with additions, including raising the home, installing a new foundation, creating a new entrance and added living space.

The Forest Project
Another collaboration with architect Diane Hendrix, this renovation includes enclosing a second-story porch to expand a bathroom, and new kitchen cabinets and countertops.

NEW CONSTRUCTION

Urban Farmhouse: Jamestown, NY

This classic two-story farmhouse features custom cabinetry and carefully considered details throughout.

The Grandview: Lakewood, NY
This single-story home with three bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a two-car attached garage also features a scenic view of Chautauqua Lake.

MODERN ADDITIONS & UPGRADES

Deck Expansion: Bemus Point, NY
In the spring, we completed a lake house deck expansion in Bemus Point, along with a new custom staircase inside.

Hemlock Lakeside Addition: Lakewood, NY

It’s all in the details at this family home renovation on Chautauqua Lake. From hand-painted cedar siding and historic trim to smart water-management features like copper flashing and high-performance materials, every element was installed with care. The work also included excavating beneath the existing home and pouring a new foundation.

None of this work would be possible without the talent and dedication of our crew. We’re also grateful for the architects, suppliers, and local tradespeople who partner with us and share our commitment to quality.

That teamwork extends beyond the job site. This year, we welcomed Ashlee to the office. She joins our project manager, Ed, in keeping operations running smoothly and supporting our crews on every job site. Their organization and energy make a difference every day.

In 2026, we will keep delivering solid, well-built homes with the friendly, down-to-earth approach our clients expect. We’ll also continue to enjoy the balance that comes with living in the Chautauqua-Allegany region. From winter skiing to summer fun on Chautauqua Lake, we make the most of where we live and work.
